Royal is the epitome of a relentlessness. From Royal’s younger years to now, he’s faced obstacles and challenges that continuously attempt to hinder him from pursuing his God-given purpose.

Royal grew up in a household which placed him in many unfortunate events that no child should ever experience. Royal has endured verbal, physical, and sexual abuse.

As well as; abandonment, rejection, health challenges, poverty, and the list continues. Most of Royal’s hurt originated from what was supposed to be his safe haven for love, his parents. Royal’s dad left him and his twin sister when they were young; Royal’s mom gave it her all to try her best to raise, love, sacrifice, nurture, and provide for 7 children on her own. As a single African-A mother in America... it was extremely stressful for his mother. 

Unfortunately, there was a domino effect connecting to the way Royal was raised. His father and mother mistreated him and his twin sister in a very unfair and traumatizing ways. Growing up, people Royal loved told him “you was supposed to be aborted.” That damaged Royal internally and externally. For a long time, he felt unwanted in his family. Although Royal and his mother didn't have the best relationship, he knew his mom loved him… and he loved his mother. Over time, Royal’s relationship with both of his parents got better (through prayer and forgiveness).

Royal was labeled retarded, slow, idiot, monkey, nigger, and was placed in special education. Instead of receiving the right help and services to grow and develop, he was used as a pawn to receive monthly monetary benefits for being a student in special services. According to society, Royal should’ve been another black statistic who would end up in the streets, in a gang, in prison or dead. Many times Royal would find peace in going to school, which was also where he received his main meals (breakfast & lunch) for the day. Royal did have a healthy outlet when he visited his family, in Queens; to get the love, nurturing, and food he needed.

Despite the series of unfortunate events that have transpired in his life, Royal pursued the small light of hope that he saw at the end of the tunnel. Royal found hope in his creativity and desired to impact the world by using his tragedy to help others triumph. Little did he know that God had given him his gift of creativity as a tool to overcome the life he faced. When Royal realized the peace and fulfillment he found in his art, he began to develop his skill. For a moment, Royal thought art was his only path, but he discovered his natural ability to motivate and encourage those around him. In addition to the artistic and motivational skills Royal had, he also has a passion to serve humanity.

Royal Tanis isn’t only a voice of hope and guidance for our youth and many generations, but his nature breathes love, generosity, and compassion for all. Royal is committed to serving humanity through his faith, love, labor, finances, creativity, and through his life experiences. You can find a plethora of motivational speakers, but none quite like Relentless Royal. What he brings to the table in the education arena... is far beyond this world.

2020 Got Worse For Relentless Royal

On November 4th, 2020, at approximately 6:34 am, Royal Tanis was involved in a house fire. Unfortunately, Royal was severely injured, leaving him with third degree burns. After being in a hospital for nearly a month, he decided to squeeze the good out of this bad situation. He made a commitment to himself to share his story and educate our youth about fire safety in a whole new way!
